Journey along with the Heart Matters Gals

Christ Solid Rock Stand

Many are devastated right now. You are fighting depression. You are fighting feelings of hopelessness. You are fighting fear. I've been listening to you.

I get it. I have walked through all those same emotions. I have shed about a year's worth of tears recently.

We see any strides to protect the unborn being undone. We know the great strides into child trafficking that occurred at the border are being undone. We see the agenda for youth gender confusion and modification amplified.

Independent journalists are having their jobs rewritten. Some have lost jobs.

I've had several conversations with my friends living here from China and Kenya confirming what I see happening here, and it isn't good news. Said one friend, "I was in prison 10 years for speaking against our government. My wife, 11 years. We came here to escape that. Where do we run to now?"

This is not the country our founders, many who covenanted with God, envisioned.

But despite the sadness, I am watching overcomers.

As I joined once again the Global Prayer call the other night where people from all over the world have joined together to pray for our country, I saw resilience. I saw faith. I saw trust in God that he is still working. I saw belief that God is refining the church, the bride of Christ, in this country.

I saw people continuing to call out in repentance. I listened to cries once again for revival. For praying for our enemies' salvation. For God's Holy Spirit to infiltrate in fresh and new ways. I saw calls for unity and people digging deeper into their root which is Christ Jesus.

Guess what dear friend? The church cannot be stopped! In fact, it thrives under persecution.

The Bible shows us this. The stories of persecuted Christians around the world show us this. I just finished the book, The Insanity of God, with abundant stories of Christians who have given all for the cause of Christ. And they have done so joyfully. And the church has grown!

Although with our natural eyes things may seem bad right now friend, God is still on the throne. He is still working. He is still a good God. He still wants us to pray, "On earth as it is in heaven." His message of salvation and love for all will not be stopped. In fact, it will explode!

Government leaders will not change the world. Christ alone changes hearts.

"Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men who cannot save. Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—the Lord, who remains faithful forever." Psalm 146:3, 5-6

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

The Heart Matters Gals

I’m turning 62 this year. I can hardly believe it myself. But, I’ve decided that I no longer want to live comfortably. I want to live with a spirit of adventure like I had in the past. To be unafraid of what’s new or different. I want to remain so open to the Spirit of the living God that his love compels me to go wherever he leads me.

I am passionate about people leaning into all that Jesus is. You. Me. Us. Journeying together with God. This is my greatest blessing. And now that my kiddos are out on their own, I’m learning to navigate my new normal. And I am finding there is life after little ones and teens after all!

I am currently finishing my degree in relational communications and plan to graduate in the spring of 2020!! I am thankful I have had time to grow, heal, appreciate a slower pace of living, and to invest more time into relationships with family, friends, and God. Through this process I am learning what I want to prioritize in my life and figuring out ways to make that happen. Most of all, I am figuring out that life is all about process, taking steps closer to where I want to be and celebrating the little victories but also accepting that there will be setbacks and disappointments along the way.
