I was feeling pretty blue. As I maneuvered my car on the winding road with the wind blowing leaves all around, the tears trickled out.
I knew the country I had grown up in and loved was in a very bad place. I said out loud, "God, will you fight for us? That's the question. Because maybe you're sick of us, and it's time we get what we deserve. I wouldn't blame you at all. Wickedness keeps increasing, and we the church have let it. We have not been the shining lights you called us to be."
Immediately the song came through the radio, "You're the God who fights for me, Lord of every victory, Hallelujah, Hallelujah. You have torn apart the sea, You have led me through the deep, Hallelujah, Hallelujah…" (Egypt, Bethel Music & Corey Asbury)
My sadness turned to peace and joy as the creator of the universe took time to answer my question. To remind me he was with me and hears me. That he fights my battles. That he will continue to work in me and around me. That he still sits on the throne.
My journal overflows with reminders of how God shows himself to be a personal and loving God. One that meets me right where I am.
If you haven't, I implore you along with King David to, "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." Psalm 34:8
"While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes there is a God who has not surrendered his authority." A. W. Tozer
"Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies." Psalm 36:5
