Today we are finally moving into Ruth Chapter Four. It's been quite a journey for those of us making our way through this beautiful book. But, these days we've spent will be sweetly rewarded as we watch this final chapter unfold.
Before we pull the curtain back and begin reading this final act in Ruth, settle into a quiet spot where your heart can be most receptive to God's whisper.
Spend a few minutes sitting still in God's presence.
Ask the Holy Spirit to take captive any stray thoughts that might interfere with this precious time with God, and ask that the eyes of your heart be open to see what it is that He may want to show you.
Open your Bible to Ruth Chapter Four and read it through once to get the gist of it.
Go back now and re-read the chapter slowly, paying attention to verses or phrases that stand out to you. Be sure that your journal is nearby so you can jot them down...or any other thoughts that may come to you.
Read the chapter once more. As you do, be aware of words that seem to speak to you. Write those in your journal as well.
Spend some time just quietly pondering those verses, phrases or words that have touched your heart. Write out any thoughts, concerns or questions that come as a result of this pondering. Take some time to talk with the Savior about these things.
Imagine yourself as Mary of Bethany once was...sitting at Jesus' feet. What might He be saying to you in response to your thoughts? You may want to write those things out in your journal, as well.
As your time together draws to a close, whisper or write a prayer of commitment or gratitude to God for the precious way that He met with you today.
Rest in His presence for a few minutes more, then turn to meet your day knowing He is going out before you.
